FirstNet hosted Public Meeting for the Southern Region Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEISs) in Atlanta
The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) prepared five regional Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEISs) to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of the proposed nationwide public safety broadband network as required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). Due to the geographic scope and the diversity of ecosystems potentially traversed by the project, FirstNet elected to prepare five regional PEISs. Georgia is located in the Southern Region.
Public involvement is an integral component of NEPA. The PEISs Meeting for Georgia was held on October 25, 2016, in Atlanta.

This video on the subject highlights some of the key issues facing public safety operations along the southwest border.
As part of our consultation and planning for the nationwide public safety broadband network, FirstNet is holding a federal forum focused on operations along the southwest border of the United States and has plans for future forums in other regions of the U.S. The upcoming southwest border forum is part of our plan to take consultation with federal departments and agencies beyond the headquarters and engage management, practitioners, and other staff members across the United States.
